Pope Francis blesses Professor Hawking and thanks him for his constant commitment to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The professor was made a member of the papal academy in 1968. Although an atheist, the professor supported the Pontifical Academy which fosters a ‘fruitful dialogue between science and faith’. In his lifetime, the professor met four reigning Popes.
