George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt released!

Lucy Hawking, Stephen's daughter,has written a sequal, hot on the heels of George's Secret Key to the Universe last year. George and his friends explore the planets of the solar system, and head into outer space once again with the powerful but temperamental computer, Cosmos.

 

When in Rome...

Stephen visited Vatican City in November, to join the Pontifocal Academy of Sciences, which meets once a year to advise the Pope on matters of science.  He gave one of his popular talks, The Origin of the Universe, although he left out the usual jokes about Galileo!

 

South Africa

Prof. Hawking visited travelled to South Africa, to give a lecture in Cape Town celebrating the launch of new AIMS centres across Africa.  The centres were being built as part of Neil Turok's wish made to the TED foundation, that the next Einstein would be from Africa. 

Stephen also visited Johannesburg, for a brief meeting with Nelson Mandela. 

 

Washington, DC

Stephen wrote a new lecture as a 50th birthday present to NASA, entitled "Why Go Into Space?" and presented it for the first time in Washington.
